Background[]

Regarding a new project, there have been several mentions by close sources of Enya recording new music since her 2015 album, Dark Sky Island. According to her sister Moya, Enya was recording music, as of 2019.[1][2]

Since late 2019, there has been a significant increase in activity from Enya's social media platforms. In addition, numerous vinyl re-releases of her albums and watch parties marking anniversaries of her albums have been released. For the Shepherd Moons 30th Anniversary Watch Party video in 2021, an introductory message by Nicky Ryan noted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Aigle Studio underwent multiple renovations, and new recording equipment and instruments had been installed. He also stated that with the renovations done, Enya and the Ryans were eager to start making new music.[3][4]

In June 2023, when A Box Of Dreams was reissued on vinyl, new liner notes came with it that included the message "Beidh muid ag teacht le chéile gan mhoile", which roughly translates to English as "We will meet again soon". On the liner notes, Nicky Ryan also confirmed that the Ryans and Enya were working on a new album.

In late 2023, Enya's official website was back up, and was returned to Warner ownership in 2023. It was stylized in an orange color scheme, which suggests that the new album will have an orange color scheme, as Dark Sky Island's theme of dark blue was hinted at from the website prior to the album's release.[5]
